If you boil it all down, these business owners and leaders are constantly thinking about two things:
As I travel around to different events in various industries this year, the amount of urgency and “FOMO” that are present with business owners right now is as high as I’ve ever witnessed, with AI (of course) being the centerpiece of their concerns.
- How can I more effectively use AI to grow/scale/improve my business (without making massive mistakes along the way)?
- How do I make sure AI is recommending our company when someone does an LLM-based (like ChatGPT) search?
Frankly, the need to address these two questions, and the massive fomo that folks are experiencing, are deeply merited.
Most of us (present writer included) have no idea just how impactful AI and AI search will be on revolutionizing all business (and buying) as we know it in the years ahead.
And it’s also going to happen much faster than people think.
Which brings us to the issue of AI visibility, a world that I’ve been literally swimming in over the last 24 months.
How to Get Quick Wins in AEO: A Case Study
Not only did I start a software company that measures AI visibility called AI Trust Signals, but I’m seeing data and case studies every day of what is, and is not, working when it comes to getting recommended (and not rejected) by LLMs.
The beauty of AEO (Answer Engine Optimization…or whatever you want to call it) is that it does NOT have to take long for you to started getting cited and recommended a LOT more than you currently are by AI.
Let me give you a real example:
Funnel Clarity, a successful B2B sales training company wasn’t doing too well with respect to their AI visibility. (Simply put, they just weren’t seeing leads from AI).
But the good news here is Funnel Clarity worked with Rebecca Gonzalez and her team at Orange Marketing to identify what could be done to fix their AEO issues, much of which was assisted with the AI Trust Signals software.
Long story short, Funnel Clarity made the following fixes to their website:
- Built a dedicated, robust FAQ page (this gave their site an answer-focused semantic structure that LLMs care so much about.)
- Improved their “About Us” and “Team/Author” pages (LLMs want to source content that is produced by true experts)
- Restructured all their Page Headers to be more “Answer” focused (similar to building an FAQ page, but now throughout the entire site. LLMs eat this stuff for breakfast.)
- Created crawlable “Policies” and “Terms and Conditions” pages for their website (On-page Policy and Ethics Transparency is a Trust Signal we’ve been measuring for businesses since day 1, and most businesses fail to show these things well, but LLMs care about them and when shown well, the uptick in LLM recommendations is real.)
- Added a 24-hour response commitment to the Contact Form (Super basic, right? But customer responsiveness is an important trust signal for AI, and little things like adding a simple commitment can make a big impression on humans and AI alike.)
After making these changes (which, you can see, weren’t incredibly difficult projects that could be done relatively quickly) Funnel Clarity noticed a major shift in their lead flow, and it happened fast.
Soon after, they were consistently seeing leads from LLMs and conversions shot up as well.
I don’t want to share all the details here, but the great thing is Rebecca Gonzalez is doing a free webinar with Funnel Clarity (tomorrow!) to talk about this entire experience, and their results, which you can learn more about here. (love it when businesses are willing to share with others what has worked for them btw…This type of transparency is unique, so a big hat tip to the folks at Funnel Clarity for doing this.)
All this to say, you CAN start getting more visitors and leads from AI in short order.
But you have to give AI what it wants (which, for the most part, is what humans want too.)
7 Ways to QUICKLY Improve Your AEO
In fact, here are 7 quick actions (AKA: trust signals) you can take on your website to rapidly improve your AEO:
- Create a robust FAQ page (for all your products, services, etc.)
- Create a robust Pricing page (that explains value, price ranges, financing, etc. for your product/service)
- Create a robust Reviews page (that shows how you stand with multiple review platforms, see an incredible example of this type of page here.)
- Create a clearly written Policy and Ethics page.
- Start including on all your main pages/content a “Last Published” date as well as an author byline (linked to the author page)
- Create a robust awards/certifications page (to prove your expertise)
- Become Question/Answer focused with ALL your content. Include a TL/DR summary at the beginning of all blog posts. Use optimized questions for subheaders. Add additional FAQs at the end of your posts as well.
Although this may look like a lot, it’s not a ton of work my friends. Within a few days, you can easily have all of these “fixes” completed on your site.
But they will make a difference, as we see every day from folks that reach out to us at AI Trust Signals.
And before we close, one last thing about AI visibility:
This field is evolving fast. Really fast.
What is working today may not be working in 6 months.
But just remember: If doing something would cause a human to trust you more, then it very likely is an evergreen AEO strategy built to last.
As for me, I’m going to now go jump back in Claude Cowork and see what else I can eliminate from my life by using agentic helpers to take action for me (more on my findings here in the future).
And if you have questions about AEO/SEO/Content/etc. – leave your thoughts in the comments below.
Cheering you on,
